This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Practice makes perfect, right? That's my philosophy with my 19 first graders. They are learning to read and loving it!
My students LOVE to read and are always asking for more books.
Wouldn't it be cool to have a bag of books right behind you? I would like to provide a storage bag for each one of my students to keep books in them. This way, my students would have a bag full of books at their reach!
My Project
This project will encourage my students to learn to read and then read to learn. Having their own bags with their own books means that I can individualize the books that each student receives. They can have books in their bags based on their reading level and interest. My students will learn to pick out a book whenever they have spare time.
This project is important because it is going to help my students build fluency, reinforce phonics skills that have been taught, and continue to foster my students love for reading.
