Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher with 22 students in my class. About 80 percent of my students are on free or reduced lunch. All of my students are motivated to learn no matter what challenges they have going on in their life or in their community. Also, all of the parents want the best education possible for their child and they try the best they can.
I have been teaching for 20 years and I know technology has changed since I first started teaching. Two years ago my school purchased a document camera and projector for my classroom. I think that is the first thing that brought my classroom to the 21st century. Now we have adopted a new math series that has a lot of interactive activities, but we can't use them because we don't have a computer to use in the classroom. Also, our school is now doing many things through the computer (like daily attendance) but there are several classrooms at our school that don't have computers they can use and mine is one of them. I would love to use all the different websites and interactive materials with my students if I had a laptop to use for my classroom.
I really need a laptop computer so my students can get the most of their education. I will hook up the laptop to my projector so I can do all the interactive lessons. I will also let the students come up and use the laptop. It will be a classroom laptop, not only for the teacher. I would love to learn all the things I can do with a laptop and I would love to pass the knowledge to my students.
I know the economy is hard right now but I hope you will find it in your heart to give to a worthwhile cause. My 22 students will really benefit from the laptop and I will be able to use it year after year. It will help me become the best 21st century teacher possible!
