My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I have some students that are new to our country and speak little to no English. I have other students that come from struggling households. More than half of my student receive free or reduced rate lunch. The demographics of our area are constantly changing. More and more of my students are now living with extended family because of financial hardships. They all come to school ready to learn and eager to overcome the challenges they face each day.
My Project
Currently, our classroom has two laptops and a desktop computer that work when they want to due to age. With a class of children trying to use technology to practice their reading and math skills, it is difficult to find time for everyone. A new iPad will help more students access the resources they need at their fingertips. An iPad will also allow my students to be more creative with their book reviews and reading responses. My students are learning new skills each day and having technology will help all of them be successful in our classroom. The possibilities are endless.
