This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students from urban Los Angeles are typical kids who love learning and having fun! They miss being at school physically with their friends and teachers, but they still come onto Zoom every morning ready to learn! You can hear their laughter and the mix of English and Spanish through our Zoom calls! They are excited to use the new student devices they recently got to learn from home. These kids enjoy reading comics, doodling, playing video games with each other during lunch, making videos of themselves, and just simply being with their friends!
My Project
My students have returned to the classroom from quarantine ready to read! We are working on phonemic awareness and word families so students can decode, segment, and substitute sounds and word parts.
I am requesting reading cards, lessons, games, and activitities to help my students develop their reading superpower!
These games and activities make tactile learning easier. Because my students are. tactile learners, when they physically touch and move the manipulatives found in the activities, they are more likely to remember the sounds and word parts.
Using these activities and lessons, my students will become more confident readers, blending their way through sounds and words. They will become reading superheroes!
