The building blocks, LEGO set, and magnetic tiles are building fine motor skills and early engineering thinking, one tower at a time.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools the spinning chair, liquid motion bubblers, and fidget toys give my students calming, regulating options throughout the day, which makes such a difference for their focus and comfort in the classroom. Your generosity is making a real difference for my Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) students in LAUSD's PAL program.\r\n\r\nThe Calming Colors room dividers are helping us create a quiet, low-stimulation space where students can regulate and reset something that matters enormously for our youngest learners who can easily become overwhelmed. The Hold-A-Ring walking rope gives our students a safe, structured way to transition between spaces together, building independence and confidence with every walk down the hallway.\r\n\r\nAnd the books the Pigeon series by Mo Willems and the Pete the Cat collection have quickly become some of our most loved story time favorites. Because of your generosity, my Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) students in LAUSD's PAL program now have new tools to build strength, balance, and confidence all through play.\r\n\r\nThe stepping stones and play tunnel are already helping students work on balance and motor planning in a way that feels like a game, not \"therapy.\" The playground balls, bean bag toss, and ring toss games give students so many ways to practice coordination and turn-taking with their peers. And the sidewalk chalk and bubble machine have brought pure joy to our outdoor time you'd be amazed how much language and social interaction happens over a chalk drawing or a stream of bubbles.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, outdoor play isn't just recess it's where some of their most important developmental work happens. Being able to sympathize and understand these characters does such a big impact to my students to foster understanding and compassion within one another.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who is an emergent English reader, had an especially tender love with this story. Whenever she had time, she would read ahead and question how these boys were being treated. Unfortunately, seeing old and half empty paints was a norm for them. But seeing that there was watercolor paint of every color they needed and paper durable enough for their projects was such an amazing event! \r\n\r\nWe first used our materials with our jazz project! The students painted their own jazz records and their own paintings on how they saw jazz. Being able to share this magic with two forms of art was so heartwarming.
