Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students from Kindergarten - 8th grade who are usually coming to me for Speech and Language sessions always respond well with the help of new therapy materials. Students from Elementary and Middle schools are coming for the speech sessions from Monday-Friday.

This project will help the students from Elementary and Middle school's to increase their receptive and expressive skills.

Also by looking at the real pictures and photos of the professionals , the students can get an idea of improving their vocabulary skills and also improving their thought and ideas of becoming a Skilled Professional. This will give up an idea for the students preparing for the college and the carriers. For Asperger/ Autistic or Specific Learning disability students in the Middle school when they are doing a project, or through project based learning the students could be taught such as teamwork, empathy or real -life problem solving skills. If the students have a project for Homeless people or if the project have a particular topic or theme, then each group comprising of 5 students will be given a responsibilities. Each student will maintain the responsibilities and come with the ideas. Each student will have to fulfill their responsibilities.

My Project

My students need vocabulary building material, including Learning Science Activity Tub, Hazard Mountain Inference Game and Grab and Play Social Studies Games Set. Some of my students' reading and expressive vocabulary is far below grade level. My project is for the students who are learning new vocabulary words, to improve their receptive and expressive vocabularies. My speech and language students who are verbal and non-verbal will be able to respond with the therapy materials and expand their vocabularies. The Speech and Language students will use the vocabulary skills by matching or by sharing ideas by looking at the pictures, or expressing in 4-5 or 6-8 word utterances with cues and prompts. Autistic and Asperger students will try to give a reasoning answer, using problem solving skills and increasing their pragmatics skills using the social strategies and the conversational strategies using the social games. Student will respond using the sharing and answering the questions strategies.

My project will make a difference, the students will respond using the therapy materials and improve the receptive and expressive language skills by using the new vocabulary cards.

My Autistic students will also improve their vocabularies using new therapy materials. The students will use and implement pragmatics language skills using the social games. Student will read a story and answer the questions, who, why, when, where, and how) questions in five to seven words or using compound and complex utterances.
