My Project

My classroom provides an education for students receiving inpatient mental health services. We serve an extremely diverse group of students from all over Oregon! We have students who are receiving special education services and/or ELL services; we have students who are gifted learners, and some who are catching up academically- we even serve some students who've never been in school before!

Have you ever tried to read a picture book printed in black and white- or a science article?

It's not very interesting! My students need materials printed in color to help grab their attention and keep their interest!

This doesn't seem like the most interesting project, but it's essential! We use colored ink every day- to print out decodable books, students' writing projects, math work, and more! The only problem? Colored toner is really expensive! We're rationing colored ink right now, which means that my students often end up with black and white decodable books- boring! Colored toner allows students to print writing and science projects in color and access high-interest readers in color. As our world becomes more and more digital, schools need to keep up and colored toner helps us keep teaching digital skills like creating and printing materials such as presentations, books, and more!
