My Students
Do you remember when you were young and had a story or a picture that you just had to share with your classmates? Do you remember holding up the picture and having your classmates and friends say, "I can't see what you drew?"
My students live in a low income neighborhood in the city of Chicago.
They are an energetic group of first graders. The school where my students attend is a very diverse school with over 42 languages spoken. My students are very eager to share their work with their classmates. They like to show off their work.
My Project
A document camera will provide my students with an opportunity to share their journal writings and illustrations with their classmates. The camera will provide my first graders the privilege of seeing each others work in detail. A document camera will also provide me with a chance to model assignments and directions that are so necessary with first graders, especially those who have difficulty understanding English. A document camera will allow them to see what they need to do with clarity.
My students will be so excited to share their illustrations with their classmates.
I can hear them now asking if it is their turn to show what they have written. They are truly excited about what they can do and want their friends to share in that excitement. A document camera will allow them to share what they are doing. A document camera will also allow me to model directions for certain assignments which will help my ESL and bilingual students understand what they need to do.
