My Students Dream of Becoming A Marching Band Drum Line

My students need many pieces Marching Band percussion mallets, sticks, and hardware.

My Students

Have you ever seen a drum line performance LIVE?!?! If not, you are missing out!! Seeing a live percussion performance is exhilarating and exciting! That is how I was inspired to begin a drum line for my school's marching band.

My school recently received a donation of used marching band percussion from a local high school who was fortunate enough to receive new equipment.

By inheriting their old marching drums, my students and I have been eager to start our own drum line. A drum line consists of several types of drums and percussion instruments. We have received snare drums, bass drums, tri-toms and even quad toms. To get the best sound for each of these drums, my students and I have researched the proper sticks and mallets that need to be used.

My Project

We are requesting funding for proper snare drumsticks and bass drum mallets. In addition, the harnesses to hold these drums have lost most of their foam cushioning, so we are requesting foam to replace the pieces that have fallen off. The colored electrical tape will help show school spirit when we wrap the blue and white tape around our sticks. The students also asked to request a book of rudiments to practice and a poster of percussion basics and fundamentals to hang in the classroom.

Please help me keep the excitement in my students' eyes.

They are anxious to get started with this project and so am I. With these supplies we can begin a great tradition at my school and create some wonderful memories for my current and future students.
