My students need a subscription of 57 copies of Dyna Math Magazine. This will encourage them to interact with high interest text and apply math to real world experiences.
The students that I have the opportunity to work with daily are two classes of amazing fourth grade mathematicians. I love seeing them get excited about learning!
My students love to read, get hands on with learning, and investigate all kinds of new challenges.
They thrive on seeing how what they are learning is beneficial and applicable in the real world. Our school is in a rural, blue collar town and over half of the students qualify for the free and reduced price lunch program.
My Project
These DynaMath magazines will bring an added excitement to math class. Having these magazines will be a great addition to our county adopted curriculum. The colorful illustrations along with high interest text will draw kids in to look at what we are learning in class and see its importance in the real world.
It will engage students who are more visual learners and encourage students to realize that math is used everywhere!
Students will have the opportunity to work in learning teams or individually to explore the magazine topics each month. This subscription also offers interactive videos and encourages STEM based learning opportunities. I would like all students to have their own copy so that they can share these articles with their families, write in them, and have their own subscription to a magazine. Many families do not have the funds to purchase magazines for their kids. Getting something monthly that they can keep will also give students a sense of ownership and responsibility of their materials.
