My Project

My students are an energetic group of kindergartners. They are eager to learn and try new things and are happy to spend their school days in our classroom with me and their friends.

For my entire seventeen-year career, my students have had crowded backpack hooks; my goal this year is to furnish my room with tidy student lockers to clean up our backpack area and allow each student to have an organized space of their own.

I teach in an older rural school. In former years, my classroom has been an upper-elementary room, a second-grade room, and since my hire, it has been a Kindergarten room. As most teachers do, I have had to make the most of what space I have. In an effort to maintain as much floor and center space as possible, I have never attempted to change the backpack area of our classroom. One of my colleagues showed me the height and depth of these lockers and upon inspection, I realized that they will not take up more space than our already existing backpack system. I am so excited to think about the possibility of tidying up this area of the room and giving each of my students their own personal space for all of their belongings where nothing is getting lost or intermingled with other students' things.

A student set of sturdy lockers is exactly what this empty space in my classroom needs. I am confident a class set of this furniture will bring some much-needed organization and boundaries for personal belongings. Thank you for your consideration of this project.
