My Space For Learning

Help me give my students more choices for flexible seating. Bar stools will provide a standing desk area for students that have a hard time sitting. The rug will be used for a quiet reading and writing area.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds, but cheerful work together each day to show kindness and support to one another. They love working with each other in teams as we explore and learn new things through hands-on activities.

My students are full of wonder and curiosity.

They are always excited to try new things and they love to share what they learn with others.

My students are such an inspiration to me every day, as they try new things, support one another and are excited to learn and grow.

My Project

Having choices in class is important for helping students gain confidence and feel connected to the learning activities they participate in each day. This year my goal is to provide more seating choices for my students. During Writing and Reading Workshop, students will be able to choose to sit at a desk or around the room with a clipboard. Using tall tables with bar stools and floor seating areas with a rug, I will be able to add more flexible seating areas for my students.

By providing flexible seating in my classroom, my students will be able to choose the best learning space for themselves.

Allowing my students to choose their own learning space has helped my students feel more in control of their own learning and focus better on their work; which has lead to a decrease of distractions in our classroom.
