My students need headphones to create digital projects that allow them to incorporate video/audio components. Majority of my students do not have their own headphones or the means to obtain them.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Nelson's classroom raised $608
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are very diverse in languages, cultures, beliefs and personal strengths, as more than half of them have come from all over the world. However, nearly 80% are free or reduced lunch in this SeaTac, WA school.
The challenges many of my students face in-and-out of school make it difficult for them to find their purpose at school.
In engineering designs, my students are doing hands-on, real world projects that are rigorous and relevant. Let education push past poverty.
My Project
Majority of my students cannot afford to purchase earbuds. Sure, the dollar store sells them, however, they do not last and sometimes do even work. Students are creating projects and presentations with audio components.
Without headphones, can you imagine 32 computers making noise at the same time?
Taking turns to play/ edit audio in a 52 minute class period is problematic and limits productivity.
Having the same headphones available to all students makes it equitable for students of all abilities to be successful. *Microphones will be added separately so they can be used only if the project requires voice recording.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
