This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My special education students are fired up to learn! They are excited to have new iPads this year and are now in need of keyboards for their writing projects. Your help can make the difference in our students' educational experience!
I teach in a Title I school that is located in a rural community.
Our school serves the educational needs of over 650 students in grades K-6. My special education students are highly motivated to dig in and learn to be life long learners.
My Project
We are using technology in a variety of ways to help guide the students on a journey of being life-long learners. In my class, writing sentences and paragraphs, involve a great deal of typing, which would be expedited with the use of keyboards. My vision for these keyboards is to provide them as an option for the students who have the greatest difficulties, thus the greatest need, of having a keyboard to assist them with their word processing. Many of my students need the additional sensory input they can get from using an actual keyboard vs. the on-screen pop-up keyboard on the iPad.
