Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are starting the school year with distant learning. Each school year, I strive to create a classroom that is both conducive to learning and functional. This will be new for all of us, but I am certain that they will start the year eager to learn.

"Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way." - George Evans

My students are migrant learners who live on a reservation. They are eager to learn despite the odds they have against them in their lives. At our school, we do everything we can to help them be college and career ready. This includes being people who are hard workers and excited to learn.

My Project

School means making new friends, having new adventures, and learning new skills.

But wait, when did social distancing become a part of school?

My third graders are so excited when they get together. They do not understand the concept of space or social distancing. With the carpet spots, we will be able to spread them out and help them understand what social distancing means. With their own set of colored pencils, extra highlighters, pencil pouches, we will reduce the risk of getting sick and spreading germs. We will be using the "kindess" journals to reflect on our feelings and write positive notes to ourselves. We will be using the curtain lights to make a calming corner in the room that will allow us to sit in a "magical" area to help boost our energy & attitude.
