My Lobotomy - A Captivating Memoir for Psychology Students

My Project
Each year, I have my Psychology students read memoirs of people who have struggled with - and persevered thru - various aspects of mental illness. Memoirs have a very high engagement factor, particularly with teenage readers, and I give students time in class to work on each book they are assigned. More reading, simply put, means increased literacy skills!
This would be an amazing addition to our library as it is written by one of the few survivors of the era of "lobotomy as cure" era in America - and a great companion reading in my History of Mental Illness unit.
I typically do this unit in the early fall so it would especially wonderful if we could get this project funded quickly and in their hands next month!
