Each grade at my school has a type of instrument to focus on in music class. The kindergarten and 1st graders would like the same opportunity.
My students love learning about and making music, but who wants to watch and listen while everyone else gets to make music with the instruments?
My students all want a turn to make music and should get a turn to make music each class!
They have a strong desire to learn and any chance that they can learn about music and through music. My students will use the drums to perform rhythm patterns, reading music note patterns, words from poems and stories, or patterns that they create themselves. We add rhythm to poems and stories in our music class, regularly building on the students' reading skills. We even identify what rhythm patterns go with various sentences and phrases.
My Project

Students want the opportunity to play instruments all at the same time during a song.
We work on patience and taking turns with the instruments we have now but they are so excited sometimes.
I do a variety of special stories where the characters are actually instruments. So the students are actively engaged so they can play their part. We also use poems in class sometimes to make the poems more interactive.
