My Project
I have a class of energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students! Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes or may live in a motel. All of the students receive free lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances.
These are proven Science of Reading skills that will help build strong readers!
Hands-on learning is an excellent way to engage learners. When multiple modalities are activated, there is a greater chance for learning and retention to occur. Learning to read does not have to be boring. In fact, I love to make the light bulb come on so learning is fun! These Hand 2 Mind Guided Phonics resources will support us in providing hands-on experiences.
My hope is to find new and innovative ways to have scholars fall in love with reading. We know now how important phonemic development is and that it goes hand and hand with phonics. By providing these materials to my students, this will help their understanding and knowledge of the alphabet, sounds and words. These materials also can be used to differentiate each student’s learning. If the student is learning the alphabet, the materials can be for them but it can also be for the person learning sounds, cvc words and beyond. That’s what is awesome about these materials.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
