This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Because of you my students will access the world from my classroom.

My school is composed of low income families.

We are over 90% English language learners. My students have a limited world view. Linguistic and financial considerations prevent them from having many of the experiences and opportunities that most students have. Few of my students have computers at home and even fewer of those students have Internet access. They are thrilled every time they use computers at school in my second grade classroom.

My Project

An LCD projector will allow the whole class to be exposed to materials at one time. We have limited time to work with computers. A projector will allow me to introduce a new technology in math and science to the whole class at once. Then the students will be able to use our individual computers without me having to demonstrate one at a time or on small computer screen.

While many of my students live in poverty, they do not suffer from poverty of imagination or intellect.

An LCD projector will open windows on the world that my students would never know existed otherwise. Exposure to the Internet will allow them to see the unseen and experience the unknown.
