My Journey to Becoming an Exceptional Needs Specialist Part 3!
I need to complete Component 3 out of 4 in order to become an Exceptional Needs Specialist with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Woods's classroom raised $637

My Students
My students come to school every day filled with excitement and an eagerness to learn. No matter the subject, they put forth an effort with getting the job done. I am currently involved in the same process, outside of school. Much like my students, I want to be able to produce the same resilience with learning new material. Especially if this learning will equip me with the strategies needed to enhance learning in the classroom.
Part of me bringing quality instruction to my students stems from a collaboration with colleagues who teach the same discipline.
As opposed to connecting via email, I believe that I have found an organization that will not only cater to student needs but will expand my professional learning network. Upon successful completion of all four components and receiving my certificate as an Exceptional Needs Specialists, these doors will officially be open for me to step in and learn!
My Project
I am currently on a journey to becoming an Exceptional Needs Specialist. This is one of the highest accolades that an educator, regardless of their teaching state, could earn as it proves that he/she has proven that they have mastered various teaching components of their discipline. For me, this is special education. Having successfully completed Component 1 and 2, I am ready to begin Component 3. Through this component, I will have to submit recorded evidence of my teaching in action. Specifically, I will be able to prove that I am capable of meeting the needs of my students. This is the ability to teach students of all disabilities!
I enjoy teaching students with disabilities, but I know that there is more to learn!
Upon completion of this certificate, participation in this network will allow me an opportunity to review research on best practices for special education as well as access to a community of teachers from my district who hold certificates from the National Board. While I attended college for special education, I know that further research has been written on educating various disabilities in education. With me loving my profession, I want to continue to meet my student's needs.
I believe that teachers are lifelong learners and my completion of this component will lead me closer to achieving the goal of becoming an Exceptional Needs Specialist. I am hoping that you will find this project as important as I do!
