My Innovative Scholars Need Materials To Create, Build, And Regulate

My Project

I have a class of 20 incredibly creative scholars. Throughout the day my students are dying to create, build, and innovate. I found myself having to ask students to put away their intricate drawings, paper airplanes, and homemade flipbooks during our learning time to limit distractions and to keep us on pace with our curriculum. It pains me to do this, because I love seeing them use their brains to create. We recently made a switch from having "Chromebook Free Time" for 15 minutes on Fridays to "Creative Choice Time" for 30 minutes. This is a dedicated time where students are able to choose a creative activity to work on. Students are able to draw, write, research something they are interested in, or build (currently only with cardboard that I save from home and scratch paper). Making this switch has added so much excitement, collaboration, creativity, and calmness to our class. This time of our day also helps my students regulate their emotions and feel relaxed after a busy day and week. Seeing them work together, share materials, and think outside of the box has been so heart-warming for me.

Donations for this project will go towards STEM building bins, Leggos (to use with Leggo challenge cards), how to draw books, and tape (for their cardboard creations) that my students can use during their Creative Choice Time.

They are perfectly content with the materials and choices they currently have, but I know surprising them with some additional choices for this time would make them absolutely ecstatic and inspired. Thank you so much in advance!
