My Inclusion Class Needs Technology and Supplies for Success!
My students need chrome books, Grade level subscription to Scholastic News, art materials like crayons and markers, various classroom supplies like pencil sharpeners, individual white boards, classroom pencil sharpener and chart paper.
Can you imagine being in an Inclusion classroom and not having the resources and supplies you need to be successful or have the ability to support all the needs in your class? Our fifth graders need a classroom that has the supplies necessary to teach students with diverse needs.
I am a teacher in a public school that is located in an urban district.
I teach in Inclusion classroom that consists of 40 students who are a mix of English language learners and Special Education students who receive services that range from speech and language, occupational therapy, and academic support for learning disabilities.
My inclusion classroom embraces students who not only have varying levels of English to students with all levels of special education services. This project will make it possible for me to support all of my students.
My Project
The funding of this project will my inclusion classroom will be filled with technology, high interest reading materials and supplies that engage students. The chromebooks will replace several broken ones from a previous Donors Choose project, so that students can quickly access the curriculum when working in reading, math or writing groups. The white boards and various art and classroom supplies will make it possible for students to work independently and in small groups in an engaging way.
With this project the entire 5th grade will have access to high interest current events reading with Scholastic News.
They will be able to learn about current events and have cross grade discussions about the information. Also, with the chromebooks, my non-English readers as well as my inclusion students will be able to access the same materials on the Scholastic Web Site in Spanish or read aloud to them in English. They will be highly engaged and excited.
My classroom will have the tools necessary to complete a multitude of projects in an organized fashion. I will not have to waste time searching and borrowing materials from other teachers. My students' learning time will be maximized and they will be highly engaged!
