My First Classroom, Kindergarten

My Project

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms. The items chosen are thoughtfully selected with avoid excess waste and focus on the social, emotional, and academic needs of my students as they journey throughthe kindergarten curriculum.

The school I am lucky enough to work for serves a diverse community of families and has deeply rooted supply needs and gaps.

The requested materials are phonics dominoes to support budding readers and literacy, floor cushions during time on the rug, to hold personal space, and for different seating needs.

In addition, large pencils, crayons, finger grips, scissors, and other writing implements will support their small motor skills as they develop their writing ability. Also, large print paper, journals, and graph paper help develop kindergarteners with their letter formation, math, and small motor skills.

Lastly, art supplies such as paint brushes and watercolors, and art paper will be utilized during art to connect academic standards, and to support multimodal learning. The hot glue gun will be utilized by the teacher to support craft projects.

I am requesting a stapleless stapler to ensure safety for small hands from staple punctures. Multiple skin tone papers and crayons support the diversity of the student population at our school. Also, paper towels are desperately necessary.

All of these supplies support a healthy, differentiated learning space where students can feel confident to learn.
