My Students
Each day, first graders depend on me to teach them how to read, write, and obtain problem solving skills that will be the foundation of their education. These students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Their families qualify for free lunch and often do not have the means to provide literature, manipulatives, and other educational tools at home. So, I feel it is my role to provide them with rich learning experiences on a day to day basis.
Due to their backgrounds and limitations in resources at home, my students often enter elementary school significantly behind their more affluent peers.
My Project
Our classroom has access to computers, a listening center for audio books, and other technology that students don't always have at home. These can be great learning tools as students are engaged and excited about using them during independent learning. However, many students still need quiet to think and process as they are learning through technology.
These headphones will allow students to enjoy the benefits of the technology in the classroom without disturbing other students' learning.
Headphones will provide an environment that is conducive to learning and will give all students the opportunity to process independently without distracting noises from computers and audio books.
