This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 20 wonderful little people who are eager to learn.
My classroom is a multicultural mix of students with personalities that would light up a room.
Even though not all of them speak the same language they manage to communicate and have fun. They are all different and learn differently, but manage to assist each other in their own way. I loved at the beginning of the year when the English-speaking students were helping the ESL students, but now my greatest joy is seeing them all assist each other.
My Project
As educators, we have a set of standards we must follow, but these guidelines do not come accompanied by differentiation. This makes keeping up with the learning a little complicated for my little ones who learn at a variety of levels. As a result, I must teach one lesson and aid in growth at a variety of levels. Just like they help each other in a variety of ways, it is time for me to do the same. But no matter what they give us, these little ones and I push on and do our very best.
Due to having 4 different levels of learning, I need a little more help in creating assignments that will keep them engaged and progressing.
Creating these materials takes a lot of time and imagination which I do not have a lot of. However thanks to Teacher Pay Teachers, there is a vast amount of differentiated materials created by other teachers who have done the hard work
This fabulous group of children deserves to be taught at their level and not rushed through. By engaging with differentiated leveled materials they can progress on their own without stress. This makes learning easy and makes my students accountable for their own learning. In the end, it is all about a growth mindset!
