Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I want my ESOL (English as a Second Language) students to create a painting showing their heritage. I want them to be involved in their traditions and family customs and to continue appreciating their countries and backgrounds. My students need different art items to start our creative and multicultural project for the countries.
More than 45% of the students in my school come from different countries and backgrounds (Spanish/Creole speakers).
Almost 90% of our students have free lunch; some come from shelters and others from farmers. They are families with low income that struggle everyday to survive in this nation.
My Project
I want my students to experience through this project, a different way to learn,gain more art appreciation and gain more self esteem. By participating in a "Gallery Day", where they can display their projects by showing their heritage, traditions and express their feelings through art. My students need canvas, paint brushes, easels, acrylic paint, drawing paper, pencils and a portfolio bag to start our creative and multicultural project for the countries.
My project will not only make a difference in their lives, but will give them the opportunity of participate in a different way to learn by developing their art talents and abilities.
