This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a 4k - Fourth Grade Elementary School. We have a very wonderful school with a changing population and varying backgrounds. We are in a high poverty area with +70% of our students receiving free and reduced-priced lunch. We also have a +70% population of English Language Learners.

Our students come to school excited to learn.

This sensory path is meant for students of all ages and ability levels. Throughout this walk, students will improve their gross motor skills, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and self-regulation skills.

The sensory path emphasizes not only academics but also spatial awareness of others who are also participating in the path. Students will learn to wait and take turns during the walk.

My Project

Feeling with your feet, hands on as you grow. We will be using the decal floor and wall packs, adhesive vinyl, gym tape, and other materials to add the sensory walk to our hallway to keep students engaged during transitions, build self-regulation skills, and provide a safe outlet for students who need a brain break. By hopping on the number hopscotch, crawling on the alphabet tightrope, and jumping on the colored lily pads student will be learning as they move.

This sensory path is dynamic learning for developing foundational skills.

By crossing midline, hopping, balancing, jumping, visual tracking, crawling, and pushing, kids will be able to get their wiggles out and their brains ready for green zone learning!
