it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my students is their enthusiasm for learning, their care for each other, and their willingness to try things that are hard at first, such as learning to read and write. On a whim today, I invited my students to draw with sidewalk chalk during our outdoor snack time. The sun was out--a rarity in Seattle--and while the rest of my students played, two used the bits and pieces of chalk to show me all the words they've learned to read and write in English and Spanish. They were so enthusiastic, and put so much effort into creating chalk art of their learning. It truly was such a joyous experience and I can't wait to provide my students with more opportunities to show their learning through art.
The materials in this project will give my students the art tools they crave for continuing to make their learning visible to me as their teacher, our school community, and most importantly, their families.
