My Students
My students are the most caring, unique, and energetic students you will meet. All of my students are diagnosed with different disabilities, and many of them are English Language Learners (ELL) as well. They come from low-income families and receive free school breakfast and lunch. Despite all this, they are filled with curiosity and are always eager to learn. The students in my class love to engage in fun activities, especially those that are hands-on.
My Project
My students love reading fiction books. In the coming weeks, we will be diving into our Mystery Unit. I am eager to see the discoveries and connections my students will make as they learn all about mysteries.
Since all of my students are reading below grade level, I would love to provide them with mystery books that are just-right for them, so that they are able to fully experience the joy and suspense a mystery book brings.
With these books, I am hoping to reach all of my students, even the ones who do not enjoy reading. They will learn the role of a detective and experience what it feels like to be a reading detective! My students will learn how to use clues from the text, and what they already know, to make inferences. More importantly, my students will learn how all of the reading skills they have previously learned like retelling, identifying story elements, analyzing characters come together to solve a mystery.
