My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school, there are many challenges I face to provide my students with a quality education. The funding for this project will go toward (at least) 100 wonderful sixth graders. They are great kids who are excited to learn and they respond very well to technology when it's available.

My students work hard, so I want to work hard for them.

I want them to be successful, so I want to provide them with the best education possible with the most opportunities to learn and grow.

My Project

I have started doing Must Read Mondays this year in an effort to help my students read new books and introduce them to books they may have never picked up on their own.

Every week, I choose a new book that's one of my must reads.

We read the first chapter as a class to get them intrigued and excited about it. This has been a hit with my classes; the only problem is that I only have one copy of each book and so many students are not able to read the books they're excited about because of availability. I want to provide them with more copies of the books I've introduced to keep their excitement about reading up.
