My students need hands on learning tools to help them to deeply understand algebraic concepts. I strive to make mathematics fun and engaging in my classroom, the materials that I have requested will do just that.

My Students
My students are eager eighth graders, preparing to be academically, socially, and emotionally ready to succeed in high school. I have students at various mathematical levels of achievement, but all students give me their full effort and are willing to make mistakes in the process of learning.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, teaching each other about where they are from, their extracurricular activities, and supporting each other through each day.
Our school fosters a very supportive and inclusive environment, I strive for my classroom to be a safe space for students during class and during free periods.
My Project
Mathematics is generally not my students' favorite subject. I am requesting the hands on learning materials to help my students deeply understand algebraic concepts that can typically be very abstract. Algebra tiles will help students to visually understand polynomials and quadratics. The geometric figures will help students to understand the faces that make up 3D figures. The fact that the figures can be filled with liquid will help students to understand how volume formulas are related. The three sets of graphing whiteboards will allow students to quickly create linear graphs, systems of linear equations, linear inequalities, and more! It might seem insignificant, but since students typically graph on graph paper, being able to graph on a SMARTboard or whiteboard immediately makes graphing much more enjoyable for the students.
Hands on learning manipulatives will allow students to understand concepts, both mathematically and visually, deepening their understanding.
My students and I would greatly appreciate the resources that I've requested, to be able to enhance their learning, to better prepare them for high school and beyond.
