My students need a variety of music items, including valve oil, cleaning swabs, keyboard stands, and small percussion instruments, so that they can be their best!
Help us keep our instrumental music program running strong! Our instrumental music program needs various supplies so that my students can take care of their instruments and play their very best.
I teach instrumental music to 120 fourth and fifth graders in a small title one school district in New Jersey.
Our district may be small, but our students are diverse in many ways. One thing my students do have in common is an enthusiasm for continuing their music education, and need your help to acquire basic items that will help them achieve their goals.
My Project
While we are fortunate to have instruments to loan students, many additional supplies are necessary to keep our program running. We need valve oil, cork grease, and cleaning swabs so that my students can learn to take care of their brass and woodwind instruments. My percussionists need a slide whistle and finger cymbals so that they can play the instruments that our concert music calls for. Last, my bells players need keyboard stands that they can use to hold up their bell sets. Right now, they are using overturned music stands - a precarious situation at best!
These items, while seemingly minimal, are essential in giving my students a thorough and meaningful instrumental education.
You will help to enhance the way that they take care of and play their instruments. Having the proper maintenance items and percussion equipment will encourage my students to be caring, responsible, and diligent musicians.
