This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. It is a brand new school that we are working to build from the ground up. The school includes students from 3K through Kindergarten and we will be growing with a new grade each year.

Our students are passionate musicians who LOVE to sing and dance and jump into their musical education with both feet.

They are enthusiastic and eager to learn and participate in as much music as they can.

My Project

Because we are a brand new school, we are starting from scratch. Right now our bookshelves in the music room are sitting empty. With your help we can fill them with stories of musicians, both current and past, stories about children like themselves learning the music basics, illustrations of some of their favorite songs and so many other fun musical stories.

These books will help round out our students very hands on music curriculum and give our students the opportunity to hear and participate in musical stories throughout the school year.

Each book chosen aligns with a part of their musical curriculum to build well rounded musicians. I strive to cultivate a library of books about music that is diverse and multicultural.
