My Students

Our elementary school is located in a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah. We are in our fourth year, and we are still growing in population. I have taught various grades in elementary school for the past 14 years, but recently I have become the Music Specialist, and I am LOVING it! Teaching the arts is my passion. I enjoy helping every student learn and appreciate music.

My students are eager to participate in class; they look forward to playing instruments and creating music.

My students come form a variety of backgrounds and ages. They are in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, and I also teach two Special Education classes. My students enjoy school and are motivated to learn and succeed.

Because our school is still relatively new, I have limited resources. Help from DonorsChoose makes it possible for me to stay current on best teaching practices. Your donations will contribute to my success as a teacher and keep my students engaged in learning.

My Project

I teach elementary music and having an iPad for my students to use will help them engage in new, fun, and creative ways! I'm learning about new musical programs and apps all the time. Having technology in our classroom will help keep things exciting and fun.

One of our goals this year is to have our fifth graders create their own songs and play them with new apps like Garage Band, and create their own stories with the MIT Scratch creator.

An iPad will foster my students' confidence and allow then to create music independently.
