Musical Elements for K-8 Students: Discovering & Fueling Passions

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Currently the only instrument we have a class set of are flutes and recorders. The instruments on this list can be used by all ages, and by multiple users within the same day and music block. Students will get the opportunity to not only hear about music, but engage in being music makers.

My goals are to get instruments in the hands of my kids from Kinder all the way up to 8th grade.

Give them the opportunity to explore different types of instruments, and given the opportunity to create their own music.

What makes my students special is that they chose to come to an Arts Academy, they already have an interest in music. However, the music program has not been pushed to its potential by purchasing instruments to allow these students to discover and play. Their musical journey has been limited because of the lack of instruments available to them.

Please help me have a huge positive musical impact on so many kids every year moving forward.
