Help me give my students get flexible seating in order to learn to the full extent. Flexible seating has many benefits in the classroom and can keep students engaged through movement!
My students and I live in a rural town in Oregon and are in a Title 1 school. There are many military families in our community. My students love hands-on projects that get their creativity flowing. They love to experiment with new materials and are learning that it is okay if something they try doesn't work out as they had planned.
These students all have a diverse background but share a love for learning and showing their creativity.
Students show motivation and a positive attitude during these projects. All of my students learn in a variety of different ways and I want to make sure that my room is filled with the tools to help my students reach their full potential.
My Project
Flexible seating is very beneficial in the classroom. The stools provide for movement, which increases oxygen flow to the brain and keeps students alert. While we have frequent brain breaks in our classroom, students may become restless sitting at their desks.
These seating items allow students to continue to move while staying focused on the content being taught.
The carpet cushions allow for a more comfortable seating choice in our classroom library while students are enjoying reading. The carpet will go in the classroom library as well and allow for additional comfort. The carpet cushions can also be used in other areas of the room and allow students to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them.
