Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a school of the arts. We study the core curriculum, art, dance, physical education, and music. I have been teaching my students about artists who are musicians of black and Latinx races. We have been enjoying the music, the stories, and the history of these musical greats! I want to teach my students more. I want them to hear the music on a daily basis. I want to share the rich sounds of Rhythm and Blues, Funk, Soul, and Rock.

Inspirational stories are told through music and song which I would like to have playing in my classroom to inspire my students.

I want to challenge them to take chances and risks as these artists did.

Music and stories about people who look and speak like my students will help to inspire them to let their true selves shine through art and expression. They are always impressed when we sing songs that tell stories. They really listen and comprehend. I hope to inspire future storytellers through the music I share with them in class.
