My Project

For this project, I am requesting the complete K-5 GAMEPLAN Curriculum. I teach in a district where our current curriculum is over two decades old. While we have been given permission to use resources outside of our adopted curriculum, this permission does not come with financial support.

As an elementary teacher who will have over 700 students across two different schools next year, I am looking for ways I can enhance my instruction for all of my students without feeling as though I am reinventing the wheel.

The GAMEPLAN curriculum embraces several music philosopies, including the principles of Orff Schulwerk and the Kodály approach to reading rhythm and melody. Having the full set will give me with the resources I need to create lesson plans that are fun, current and relevant to all of my students' interests and needs.

Each grade level includes:

Experiences in imitation, exploration, improvisation, and visualization

Repertoire rich in folk literature, nursery rhymes and traditional singing games

A yearly plan categorizing objectives in 5 conceptual areas (rhythm, melody, harmony, form, timbre)

Many song arrangements using barred Orff instruments, percussion, and/or recorders
