Music to Our Ears!

My students need durable headphones to use while working on their Chromebooks. Many of the programs we use have audio components so students will greatly benefit from high quality headphones.

My Students

My school serves students from low income backgrounds, 100% of whom receive free breakfast and lunch daily. The majority of students are English learners, and many come from single parent households. Despite facing many daily challenges, my students are fighters and they never give up!

My students are active, creative, thoughtful, hard-working 5th graders from San Diego, California.

They love reading, using emojis, solving tricky word problems, and playing soccer at recess. They come to school with a smile on their face and they work tirelessly to achieve their goals, both academic and personal. I love teaching at my school, a school that is built on the foundation of love, as it says in our mission statement. That love can be seen in the effort my students give, it can be heard in their kind words and encouragements, and it can be felt in their hugs at the end of a long day.

My Project

Technology is an integral part of our everyday lives. As a 5th grade teacher, I feel responsible to expose my students to an many different forms of technology as possible and help prepare them to be successful in the 21st century. One of the ways I do this is through the use of Chromebooks. These devices allow students to read about current events, write responses to one another on discussion boards, and listen to instructional videos to learn content.

One necessity that accompanies student Chromebooks is headphones.

In order to be able to listen to computer programs, Youtube demos, or book read alouds students need to have good, solid, durable headphones. Due to a limited budget we started out the year with earbuds. However, 8 weeks into the school year and the majority of them are already broken. These new headphones should last us the rest of this year, as well as for many years to come!
