This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

The students submitting this project are members of the school's Band class. Their names are Valerie, Stephanie, Dafne, and Arianna, and they are all in the seventh grade. These students have a lot of girl power, and they are ready to help make our school a better place.

These girls are hardworking, kind and enthusiastic. They are involved in many activities on campus and believe in the power of music to make the world a better place. They are looking forward to being 8th graders, the leaders on campus, and role models in the music room.

My students are studying how art reflects values. I have asked them to use their Language Arts skills to write grants that reflect their own personal values. These girls value school community and music, and they hope to use their persuasive writing to convince you to support their grant that provides resources for our underfunded music department.

These girls are thinking beyond themselves and want to give back to their devoted music teacher's program. In preparing this project, students are using 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Thank you for taking the time to read their grant. If you value music, fun, and community, this is the project for you!

In Their Own Words

We are a group of 7th graders who value music. The music program has impacted our lives in many ways. It has helped us be involved in school and given us a love of music. Mr. H has given us so much, and we want to give back. He pulls money out of his pocket when we make a mistake and pop a string or break an instrument. So we want to to get sets of strings for the class because they do cost a lot. The donuts for the cellos and bases constantly getting lost,so we want to get a set of Viva La Musica music donuts for the music room. We want to ensure that everyone has one for the concert, and we want to make sure we have extra rosin on hand for all of the musicians.

We feel we are already being leaders by writing this grant and taking on this big task. When we get the supplies, first we will take them out, and make sure we have everything. Next, we will make sure that the supplies get to Mr. H. Finally we will put them away where they belong. We will also tell other students to be careful with the supplies and explain that music supplies are expensive and need to be cared for.

This is important to us because we have an opportunity to give back to Mr.H. Also, this project is important because the new 6th graders that are going into the music program will have new strings, rosin, and donuts that they will really need. This will help our class, new students coming into the music program, and Mr. H. . We want to repay him for all he has taught us and just say thank you. We also want to thank you for considering sponsoring our music department! Thank you very much!
