This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds originating from all of New York City's five boroughs. Most of the students come from low-income homes and so asking parents to contribute to expensive programs is difficult.
The school offers students the chance to develop skills for careers in health professions and so will enable them to prosper economically.
The majority of the curriculum is Science-focused and students only take one Arts-themed class. I aim to provide them with the best possible experience to enrich their understanding of music.
My Project
Students of music often are forced to learn a lot of dates and facts that are quickly forgotten. Through Soundtrap online software, students can create music of their own and collaborate with fellow students anywhere. By making music, students can use what they learn about the elements of music and apply them to their own creative projects. The software also allows the teacher to create projects and examples that students can interact with, learning the concepts through the composition of music which should be rewarding as well as engaging. Students will learn about rhythm, melody, harmony, structure, music history, as well as gain an understanding of genres and their attributes.
