My Project
Our students have so much musical talent, and have been asking to play the keyboard. In this project, I am requesting materials which will allow our students to practice their piano skills in music class with headphones. This music technology upgrade will excite and inspire.
Rotating through music centers will allow students to learn to play different instruments in a way that is predictable, differentiated, and calm.
These keyboards have headphone jacks, allowing the students to plug in and practice privately before performing for the group. Using headphones will eliminate chaotic sounds in the music room. These instruments use batteries, alleviating the need for hazardous cords and outlets.
We have a few keyboards in the classroom that are 30 years old, cumbersome to set up, and do not have headphone jacks. We don't use them often, however the students are always asking to. These new desk-sized keyboards feature full-sized keys, so this will be an authentic experience: the kids really want to learn to play piano, so your help is appreciated. The new keyboards will allow me to give away the old ones to students for home practice.
Practicing the piano privately with headphones will be a productive use of music class time, especially for our middle schoolers. The music stands will help them to be able to see and read the music while they practice. Once a song is mastered, the student can turn up their volume and share their accomplishments with the class.
