My Project
I teach music at a Title I school in South Carolina. The students make up forty-one classes in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, including special ed, regular ed, and gifted students. Many of these students come from low-income families and they rely on teachers or the school for their materials. All of my students love new new experiences and are eager to get involved in learning. Our mascot is the Busy Bee and we certainly stay busy trying to make every moment count in music class!
I would like to recognize my music students for their hard work during class by choosing a "Student of the Day" each class period.
This is someone who goes above and beyond demonstrating music skills as well as good behavior. This student gets to choose a prize out of our classroom treasure box. I teach 7 classes each day so the number of awards and prizes really adds up! Here is a chance for you to help me recognize these wonderful students in front of their classmates and homeroom teachers.
Kids are so proud when they are chosen as the "Student of the Day." Parents have told me how much their children love earning this award. The items for the treasure box (bracelets, balloons, and toy assortments) will keep my students motivated to do their busy bee best the entire year. Kids also love being rewarded with a simple Skittle or sticker for answering questions and actively participating throughout the lesson. Thank you for encouraging our students to keep working hard!
The blue tape is an essential in the music room when we are working on performances and students are learning their stage placement. A dot of tape on the floor gives them confidence to know where their special place is.
