My Project

My students learn best when music is active, hands-on, and engaging. They are curious, creative, and love a little friendly competition — especially when learning feels like a game. What makes my students special is their willingness to take risks and try new things, even when music theory concepts feel challenging at first. When they can move, create, and collaborate, their confidence and understanding grow so much faster.

With your support, I hope to provide music manipulatives such as blank dice and cardstock to create interactive music theory games.

These simple materials will allow us to build custom games focused on note reading, rhythms, dynamics, tempo, and other foundational concepts. Instead of only seeing music on paper, students will roll, build, sort, and create with the concepts in front of them. The blank dice can be customized for rhythm combinations or note names, while sturdy cardstock will be used to make reusable game cards and pieces. These hands-on tools will make abstract music theory concepts tangible, helping students retain information through play and repetition.

My goal for this project is to make music theory meaningful, memorable, and fun. I want my students to see that learning the “language of music” doesn’t have to be intimidating — it can be interactive and exciting. By turning lessons into collaborative games, students will strengthen their skills while building teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. Your support will help transform our classroom into a creative space where learning music theory feels like play — and where every child can succeed.
