Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a self contained Kindergarten class of English Language learners. Unfortunately we no longer have a music class each week and I would like to incorporate more music into our class.
Since we no longer have a Music teacher on staff I would like to surround my students in music through a variety of ways. If we can read the Big Books together and sing the songs using the Cd's it will build their early language skills as they read and sing. Since English is not the primary language of many of my students I feel that the repetitious patterns of music and singing can help their language acquisition.
It would be great if we could get a set of Big Books that illustrate the lyrics of popular children's songs as well as the Cd's to go along with the books. These books also coordinate with our monthly themes which would help as the children read it and sing it together!
