My students need 11 Ukuleles so that they can learn to express their feelings and emotions through music. What is a school like without music? Many unhappy students.
This project expired on September 25, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Think about when you are feeling sad, angry or even happy. What is the first thing many people do? They turn on music. Music is our way to connect with our emotions and change those emotions to more productive feelings. The requested instruments will help our students to do just that.
We live in a very rural and economically challenged area.
That does not stop our students from loving music it just makes it hard for them to afford quality musical instruments. Families should not have to choose between paying the rent or buying their children musical instruments. So let's not make them choose, let's provide these students with some amazing instruments.
The resources I am requesting are 11 Ukuleles so whole classrooms can learn to express their emotions through music. The students will learn through music by creating songs about their experiences and their learning. You can take any lesson and bring it to life once you add music. I remember as a student learning math songs to help me, songs about our counties in our state, and songs or rhymes for grammar. These instruments will allow students to see the power music has in increasing their academic skills.
This project is so important because often music departments in schools are the first to go in budget cuts.
We need to make that not the case and show the world that music is important in schools. We want our students to know that music is the heart of learning. Please help us spread this message and get the instruments we need so we can make a difference in the lives of these students.
