My Project
Please help us design the ultimate obstacle course and sensory walk for our students. Our students will prepare for their day by shaking out their sillies and putting their large and small muscles to work. This multi-step obstacle course will provide great proprioceptive input and an amazing opportunity for motor planning.
Our students will also work on their balance and body awareness.
We will add music to work on rhythm and timing as well. The course will even have fine motor stations that includes a light table with a pre-writing and writing center and a station with swishy fidgets so students can strengthen their hand muscles and work on pre-writing and writing skills. The final station includes a light table with building blocks to develop spatial awareness skills and visual perception skills.
Our project also includes storage boxes so we can protect and preserve our materials, so we can use them with many students for years to come.
Many of our youngest learners, especially those in our special autism classes have difficulty conceptualizing movement patterns and how to coordinate their bodies, as well as replicating patterns and copying shapes and letters. This obstacle course will help them learn these skills and it is fun! Our students love and need movement. This project provides a safe space for them to practice their motor skills and regulate their bodies.
