My students need the opportunity to learn about music with these recorders, glockenspiels and tanbourine. Being able to experience music can bring joy and happiness into a classroom in order to cater to all student's unique needs and learning styles.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Since teaching kindergarten, this is my students first introduction to what school is all about. I want to introduce my students to a well rounded education including literacy, writing, math, science, social studies and extracurriculars like music and art. I work in a low income school, where resources are limited and I believe that my students especially deserve the right to a positive, well rounded and equitable education. My students are kind, loving and eager to learn. Since these students are so ready to learn new things and challenge themselves, I want to ensure that their educational experience is advocated for .

My Project

Having access to learning about music is an enriching experience in a child's life. It helps promote math skills, critical thinking and promotes joy in the classroom. I want the students in my classroom to have recorders, tambourines, shakers, a xylophone and sheet music to play with and learn music skills. Students will learn how to read basic music and the end of the year goal is to put on a concert. Family, friends, fellow teachers and students will be invited to come watch. I hope that students can have fun whilst accomplishing something challenging like reading music and playing on a recorder.
