My students need a Bose-SoundDock music system they can hear when they are doing the Dance Unit and Fitness Testing outside on the noisy blacktop.

My Students
My classroom is the outdoor, dynamic environment of physical education. Each day my students perform a fun warmup activity that contains cardiovascular, flexibility and strength components. The second part of the lesson is devoted to the specific skill being taught in the Unit. Ex: bowling, dance
My students are an incredibly diverse group; there are Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Russian, and Anglo-Saxons.
There are more than 15 languages spoken at Alamo Elementary School.
My students are eager and willing learners. They are resilient and thirsty for knowledge.
Our school is set in an urban environment, in a safe and relatively quiet part of San Francisco.
There is great parent involvement at the school.
Our educators are also diverse and talented, with each staff member bringing their own set of unique skills to school each day with the mission of creating a future generation that can continue progressing our nation forward.
It can be very crowded and noisy on the blacktop, however, and that is why I am requesting from donors choose.
My Project
My students need a Bose- SoundDock music system they can hear when they are doing the Dance Unit and Fitness Testing outside on the noisy blacktop.
My Dance Unit is fabulous, from The Shoemaker Dance, to the Chinese Friendship Dance, to the Macarena.
Music is a great motivator, so I would use the music player for warmup activities as well.
In addition I would use the music player for indoor activities on inclement weather days such as rhythm sticks, and body movement patterns. I have 100's of songs on my iPod from 15 years in teaching all ready to share with the students.
And finally on Fitness Testing practice days, there is a Pacer Test and curl up test that have a cadence that students need to hear in order to know when to run or perform a repetition.
Unfortunately, it gets very loud in an outside teaching environment, and frequently there are many activities surrounding my blacktop space. My students cannot hear the old boom box and cannot perform dance routines and fitness testing without very loud, clear sound coming from the sound system.
My students will be able to hear the music cues, follow the rhythm patterns and better meet the CST standards that address these crucial areas of learning.
And for fitness testing they will have a better chance of passing the tests if the cadences are heard loud and clear.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
