My Students

When most people think of elementary music, the one thing they remember the most is the recorder. At our school, music is a place to create life long memories.

In our music classroom, we learn about the world through singing, dancing, READING and creating music.

We play and create music using instruments, our bodies, and voices.

Our school has a diverse student population, which is why it is so important to provide a safe and welcoming space for all to learn and grow.

My Project

Music education and the reading experience go hand in hand. Research has proven that music increases literacy, fluency and language acquisition skills. During the SCES Spring Reading night, families will learn how to enhance the reading experience with sounds, instruments, songs, and more. At the end of our Spring Reading night, families will be able to take home one book to apply what they have learned to make reading a dynamic experience.

The “Music is Lit” project is to purchase the books that families will be able to take home after our Spring Reading Night.

The list consists of various cultures, languages, and ideas that representative the SCES community.

In addition to taking home a book, families will have access to a resource of books and stories that they can access in order to continue applying what they learned at the SCES Spring Reading night.
